Cineloo End User License Agreement (EULA)
Cineloo is freeware, not free/open-source software: you may use it at no cost, but you may not modify it or extract its code. The French version of this text is the authoritative one.
Version 1.0, 17 October 2026
1. Purpose
This agreement (the "License") governs the use of the Cineloo software, its updates, documentation and related online services (together, the "Program"), published by Cineloo.org (the "Publisher").
By downloading, installing or using the Program you accept the License. If you do not accept it, do not install the Program, or uninstall it.
2. Ownership
Copyright © Cineloo.org. All rights reserved.
The Program is licensed, not sold. Its code, interface, texts, logos, icons and other elements remain the exclusive property of the Publisher or their authors. The License transfers no ownership to you.
3. Right of use
The Publisher grants you, free of charge, a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to install and use the Program, in executable form, on devices you control, for your private use and that of your household.
You may share the official download link. Any other distribution, even free of charge, requires the Publisher's prior written consent.
4. Restrictions
Except to the extent the law expressly allows it notwithstanding this restriction, you may not: modify, adapt or translate the Program; decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer it; extract its code, resources or artwork; sell, rent, lend or sublicense it; distribute a modified version; remove or alter copyright notices; circumvent its technical measures; use the cineloo.org services (data relay, updates) outside the Program or in a way that overloads them.
5. Content and lawful use
The Program does not host, provide or sell any movie, show, music, channel or other content. It plays the files you point it to and opens third-party services you subscribe to.
You agree to use the Program lawfully only: you must hold the necessary rights to every piece of content you add (DVDs, Blu-rays, digital purchases, your own recordings…) and comply with the terms of third-party services (Zattoo, streaming platforms, radio stations…). The Program must not be used to circumvent copy protection.
You alone are responsible for the content you use with the Program and how you use it.
6. cineloo.org online services
The Program uses services provided by cineloo.org: metadata relay (movie, show and music information, posters, ratings, lyrics), radio directory, updates and plugin catalogue. This information comes from third-party sources (TMDB, Wikidata, Wikipedia, TVmaze, MusicBrainz, Cover Art Archive, LRCLIB, Radio Browser…) subject to their own terms; the Publisher does not guarantee its accuracy or availability.
These services are provided with no commitment as to availability or duration. The Publisher may at any time, without notice or compensation, change, limit, suspend or discontinue them, as well as the distribution of the Program.
7. Data
The Program keeps your settings, profiles and libraries on your computer. When it queries cineloo.org it only sends what the lookup needs: title, year, language, identifiers (TMDB, IMDb, MusicBrainz…), artist, album or station name, plus the Program version and a random installation identifier. Never the path or name of your files.
The site logs these requests to run the service, improve title recognition and produce usage statistics. IP addresses and the installation identifier are only kept as salted hashes, never in clear. See the Privacy page.
8. Third-party plugins
Plugins written by third parties are the sole responsibility of their authors and may have their own license.
9. No warranty
The Program and the services are provided "as is", without any warranty, express or implied, including of proper operation, absence of errors, compatibility, fitness for a particular purpose or continuous availability.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Publisher is not liable for any damage, direct or indirect, arising from the use of or inability to use the Program or its services, including data loss, hardware damage, interruption, loss of profit or infringement of third-party rights caused by the content you use.
This exclusion does not apply where the law prohibits it, in particular in case of intent or gross negligence.
11. Term and termination
The License applies as long as you use the Program. It ends automatically if you breach it. You may end it at any time by uninstalling the Program. The Publisher may end it at any time, in particular by discontinuing the Program or its services. When the License ends you must stop using the Program and delete it.
12. Changes to the License
The License may change, including towards a free/open-source model in the future. The version published on cineloo.org when a version of the Program is made available applies to that version.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
The License is governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods.
Jurisdiction: courts of Fribourg, Switzerland, subject to mandatory jurisdictions provided by law, in particular for consumers.
In case of discrepancy between language versions, the French version prevails.
